Hot off the metal press and loaded on trucks, the new “A State of Vision” specialty license plates are ready to roll out of Tallahassee to license tag agencies all across Florida on January 26th.

Benefiting blind and visually impaired Floridians through the services of local nonprofit agencies statewide, the new “A State of Vision” specialty license plates are expected to be a hot seller.

Lee Nasehi, president of the Florida Association of Agencies Serving the Blind and Executive Director of Lighthouse Central Florida said today, “these license plates will raise critically-needed money to help thousands of Floridians who live with limited vision or blindness everyday. I’m proud and thankful that the Florida Legislature had the vision to create this new license plate.”

Florida House of Representatives’ Speaker pro Tempore Dennis Baxley (R-Ocala), who sponsored legislation creating the “A State of Vision” specialty license tag said: “This was the very first project of the Florida Legislature’s new Vision Caucus; and it will help thousands of Floridians with vision loss. My wife and I will proudly display one of these tags on our car.”

“Thousands of Floridians with limited vision or blindness will have a brighter future because of the ‘A State of Vision’ license tag. I hope everyone buys one with that goal in mind.” That’s how Robert Kelly described his feelings about this new license tag. Mr. Kelly is Executive Director of the Conklin Centers for the Blind which serves visually impaired children and adults statewide.

Active in the Florida Lions, Mr. Kelly added: “I will be asking every Lion in Florida to buy one of these beautiful license tags. Our goal is to help the blind; and this is another great way to do it.”

The new A State of Vision license tags will be available in license plate tag agencies throughout Florida in the coming weeks.

For more information on their availability, contact your local license tag agency or County Tax Collector’s office.
